God Sent Me You
A Spiritual Reflection on Gratitude, Prayer, and the Souls Who Shape Us
Dear Everyday Mystic,
I wrote this from a place of deep gratitude and profound love for my closest friends. But as I reflected, I realized it is bigger than that. Every soul I encounter, in joy or in struggle, in love or in hardship, is somehow sent in answer to the prayer in my heart.
What came through next arrived as a prayer—simple, repetitive, and insistent.
I offer this prayer to you now, even if I don’t know you personally, because if you are on the earth or in the heavens, you are God’s answer to my prayers.
God Sent Me You
I prayed to be grateful
and God sent me you.
I prayed for peace
and God sent me you.
I prayed for joy
and God sent me you.
I prayed for love
and God sent me you.
I prayed for a life of wisdom
and God sent me you.
I prayed for eternal happiness
and God sent me you.
I prayed for boundless joy
and God sent me you.
I prayed for an open heart
and God sent me you.
I prayed for compassion
and God sent me you.
And in all that I pray,
God answers through you.
I am blessed that you have chosen to listen.
