Be a Lightning Rod for Love
Dear Everyday Mystics,
Love speaks to us today about a new world and your essential role in it:
There is a world beyond your wildest imaginings that wants to be revealed to you. What is required to see this world is to see through the eyes of Love. And through this new vision the world becomes more luminous, more alive, more vibrant.
You may still see the same tree outside your window but through the eyes of Love you see it in its full glory, its full aliveness, its full luminosity and vibrance. Let that tree speak to you. Everything around you has consciousness. You may interact with the consciousness of a tree, of a flower, of an animal, of other humans, of Gaia (Mother Earth), of the Cosmos and with the Consciousness that is the seed point of all creation (which I refer to as Love). Let your ears hear the exquisite music of the spheres which you may think is at too high a pitch for you, but it is not. It is a matter of tunning your ears into these exquisite sounds that are all around you—the sounds of the trees, the sounds of the grass, the sounds of the spheres.
Hold the higher consciousness to lift humanity up to higher levels of vibration, ones in which all can hear the sound of the spheres; all can see the luminosity of creation all around them; so that all can see that everything is alive. Open your heart and let the radiant white light of divine love that you harbor, that you encompass, that you are the essence of, flow freely out into the world. You don’t need to give it direction because divine love knows where to go. It is just waiting to be set free; to be acknowledged and set free. The only way for divine love to grow within you is to share it—to share it freely and unconditionally. To let it flow past all pre-conceived borders, both geographic and human. There are no boundaries in this interconnected web of life but if you choose to see someone, something, anything as separate from you, then you have removed yourself from the flow of life and of love.
Be the lightning rod for God’s Love on earth. It’s as if you are a receiver of divine, white, radiant, powerful love. You pull it into yourself and the earth and then send it outward because it is too big to be contained. Your role as the lightening rod is not to keep it for yourself but to anchor it and spread it. You pull it in to anchor it and to spread it.
As a lightning rod of Love you stand taller than the tallest buildings in your town. When you agree to do this, you are saying to God, “Yes! Use me, I am here! Let me attract more of Your Love into myself and I will spread it. I will attract, anchor and spread Your Love.” If you were on the Healing Grace call or are reading these words, then you are called to do this work.
This is a job you do of your own free will. It is not mandated; it is asked of you. There is no punishment for not accepting. The more of you who accept the more quickly humanity can awaken; the more quickly it will cleanse the old paradigms that cause separation, strife, and suffering. As St. Thérèse said to me many years ago, you lack nothing…pick up a broom to sweep away the obstacles to peace—misunderstanding, judgment, and a sense of lacking. Love is the broom that sweeps away the obstacles. In fact, Love flows through them as if they are not even there.
I ask this of you not because you must, but because you can. See yourself now as the Lightning Rod of Love—that tower of light in your community who reaches up to the heavens to say, “I’m here! I’m willing to carry Your Love, to anchor it and to spread it.”
To spread it you may see rays of white light emanating from you outward in all directions, but there is also the practical acts of spreading love through kindness and compassion in all your interactions, including your interactions with yourself. After sending love indiscriminately out into the world, set your intention to send love to each other on this call (or to those reading or listening to these words). You don’t need to know who they are because Love knows and will direct your love. Ask that this love be used for the highest healing good of everyone on the call and everyone in the world. Take a moment to send love to those who you know are suffering. They could be personal friends and family, to those suffering from war, to those suffer from poverty—either material and spiritual poverty, to all the world’s leaders, to all those who are caught in cycles of violence and abuse.

I have to admit that I found the image of a lightning rod a bit disconcerting as it is meant to attract and discharge vast amounts of energy. Perhaps however, that is the whole point. A lightning rod, as one of our group pointed out, receives and disperses energy. As a metaphor in today’s message we are asked to become aware that we are always receiving vast quantities of extraordinarily powerful divine energy. We are simultaneously conduits and manifestations of Love. As lightning rods, we must willingly receive Love then, anchor it into the earth and indiscriminately discharge it into the world for the benefit of all creation. It is a critical exercise in acknowledging who and what you truly are while simultaneously reminding you that you must willingly receive as well as give.
Your very presence and willingness to love impacts the entire Cosmos and the Cosmos responds to your love by caressing you in a gentle, nurturing, mothering sphere of blue light, like that of the archetypal Mother Mary. Let all that troubles or vexes you be drained or cleansed from your being. It could be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Take a moment now to close your eyes and rest in the profound love that you are attracting and emanating out into the world.
